Executive Headteacher's Welcome

I am delighted to have the opportunity to welcome you to our school and to give you a taste of all the brilliant things that happen here each day. We are very proud of being a Consilium school, and we feel that the values of our Trust is reflected in all aspects of our work.

We pride ourselves on having high expectations and high standards. We are committed to ensuring that every student experience first-class learning and education, so that they are able to reach and exceed their potential. This is reflected in our school’s vision that we achieve ‘Excellence in all that we do’.

Our relentless focus on excellence has led to sustained and significant improvements in all areas of our school provision. We are a ‘Good’ school, as confirmed by Ofsted (June 2023). Compared to similar schools nationally, we are in the top 10% most improved for the progress and attainment that our students are making. Practice within school is beyond ‘Good’ and realising ‘Outstanding’.

Our school operates with a great feel of inclusivity and community. This is typified by respectful relationships that exist between teachers and students. Our learning environment is clearly focussed on high academic standards for all of our students.  Our school has a friendly, warm, orderly, and calm environment, allowing our classrooms to be healthy and conducive environments for learning.

Students are polite, friendly, and relentlessly enthusiastic – they value the help and support that our teaching and teaching support team provide. We expect them to show the attributes of the Professional Learner at all times and uphold the high standards that this provides.

We aim to provide every member of Team Wyvern a broad and balanced curriculum, where every student is valued. We have high expectations in terms of achievement, behaviour and attitudes so that everyone can become the very best that they can be. We provide students with a wide range of opportunities so that they can grow and develop into socially responsible citizens ready to take their next step on their academic journey.

We hope you will gain a flavour of what life is like at Wyvern Academy, and we look forward to welcoming you into our community and enjoying a happy and successful partnership with you and your family over the coming years.

Our Core Purpose:

To ensure every student leaves us ready for their next successful chapter, with students attending university or starting a fulfilling career.

Our Core Values:

We enrich lives and inspire ambitions, to ensure students thrive in the world around us. At Wyvern Academy we believe in the core values of:

Partnerships – Collaboration is the key to success. We work with the school community and the eight schools in our academy trust to ensure that we are actively embracing knowledge and expertise, so that we achieve our school’s vision.

Opportunity – Our school and Trust’s aim of “Enriching Lives, Inspiring Ambitions” applies to all members of our school community, with our inclusive approach delivering a breadth of opportunities to give each individual the chance to fulfil their potential and prosper.

People Centred – We wholeheartedly want the best for all members of our school community. Our culture is inclusive, where everyone is treated with the highest level of respect. For example, our alignment of vision and values has involved the full consultation of students, staff, parents or carers.

Our journey of school improvement continues to happen at pace. My ambition for Wyvern Academy is that it becomes a leading educational establishment, both regionally and nationally.
